Emberfall Chronicles

★★★★★ 4.6 Editor rating

Emberfall Chronicles is the kind of RPG that respects your time without cutting corners. Combat is turn-based and plays out on a compact grid, so you can think through a fight in a couple of minutes and still feel clever when a plan comes together. Party management is deep enough to tinker with, light enough that you never dread opening the menu.

What won me over was the writing. The towns feel lived-in, side characters remember your choices, and the main quest avoids the usual chosen-one clichés for something quieter and more personal. Exploration is rewarded with little vignettes rather than just loot, which kept me wandering off the path.

The touch controls handle movement and targeting well, and battery drain is reasonable for a game with this much going on. It's a proper adventure you can carry around, and after twenty hours I still wanted to see the ending.
